While it can vary, the majority of parish priests spend their time preparing for and celebrating the sacraments, praying for the church and their people (and in personal prayer), crafting homilies, preparing couples for marriage, spiritually directing and counseling parishioners, blessing people and things, teaching classes, visiting the sick and imprisoned, along with any administrative responsibilities. It is a thrilling, fulfilling, and blessed life! Every day is different. I LOVE IT.

Frequently Asked Questions
I feared that I would be lonely in seminary and as a priest. Yes, I have experienced some loneliness, but have also seen that it is an aspect of everyone's life this side of heaven, no matter one's vocation. In fact I have discovered that loneliness, in the truth of what it is at the depths, is really just a form of our longing for God. Other relationships can soften this feeling, but they can never fill it. Only heart-to-heart relationship with Him - a sharing of life - will do.
